In June of 2005, the GHMPO began a 10-month planning process to plan for bicycle and pedestrian facilities to serve area citizens. This planning process was an outgrowth of comments received during last year’s Long Range Transportation Plan project, where citizen’s expressed concern about the need for such facilities in the County. An extensive outreach program with two public meetings, three task force meetings, fieldwork and meeting with local government staff and officials was completed in the development of this plan by a consultant along with GHMPO staff.

The plan demonstrates how to integrate bicycle and pedestrian facilities into the GHMPO’s plans for state and federally funded transportation projects, identifies proposed projects and design standards for new facilities as well as locating potential funding sources. The GHMPO Policy Committee adopted this plan on March 14, 2006. Click on the following links for the plan documents in Adobe® PDF format.
