May 2025 – GHMPO Adopts 2055 MTP & Other Studies

At the May 6, 2025 Policy Committee, GHMPO adopted the 2055 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) – the latest version of the Gainesville region’s federally required long-range transportation plan, which highlights all projects expected to utilize available state and federal funding between 2025 and 2055. Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan
At the May 6, 2025 Policy Committee, GHMPO adopted the Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan: 2025 Update, which was a full update of the original GHMPO Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan that was adopted in 2014. This plan highlights short, medium, and long-term recommended projects and connections for bicyclists and pedestrians. To view this study in full, please click the following link:
State Route 13/Atlanta Highway Corridor Study
At the May 6, 2025 Policy Committee, GHMPO adopted the State Route 13/Atlanta Highway Corridor Study, which provided a comprehensive look at this busy corridor between Jesse Jewell Parkway and Tumbling Creek Road in Gainesville. This study provided short and long-term recommended projects for multiple intersections, along with examining possible corridor-wide improvements. As this is a state route, the ultimate decision for upgrades belongs with the Georgia Department of Transportation. To read this study in full, please click on the following link:
Hall County Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan
At the May 6, 2025 Policy Committee, GHMPO adopted the Hall County Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan. This plan highlights high crash, injury, and fatality locations on Hall County’s roadways, and provides a list of potential upgrades to assist with increased safety and lowering speeds.
