Gainesville-Hall Regional Transportation Plan 2020

Regional Transportation Plan: 2020 Update

The Gainesville-Hall Metropolitan Planning Organization (GHMPO) adopted the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP): 2020 Update on May 12, 2020. This RTP update covers a 30-year period from 2020 to 2050 and provides a guide for GHMPO’s transportation investments by prioritizing needs across the planning boundary and identifying both short and long-term strategies for the management and improvement of the regional transportation network. This update satisfies a federal requirement of updating a regional transportation plan every five years for the Gainesville metropolitan area.Using available census data and the previously created planning documents within the region, a thorough understanding of the existing population and employment centers can be attained. By incorporating additional planning reports, predicting growth, and review of future land use plans, assumptions can be made for future 2050 conditions. This information is then used to develop a transportation demand model which creates visual representations of the traffic conditions. The 2015 population of Hall and Jackson Counties, as well as projections for the 2050 populations, can be found in the following table from Page 37 of the full report:
